Frequently asked questions
What is Blairwell Prep? Are you a co-op?
Blairwell Prep is NOT a co-op. We are a drop-off homeschool program serving students ages 3-17. Parents are not required to volunteer—though opportunities exist for those who would like to help.
What does a day at Blairwell Prep look like?
We follow a daily rhythm with a mix of academic, creative, and movement-based classes. Lunchtime is a full hour to give students time to eat, rest, connect and play with friends. Each day has slight variations. You can view a sample schedule on our Programs page.
When does the program run?
We currently meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from September through May. Families may choose one or both days.
Who teaches the classes?
Our instructors are paid professionals chosen for their experience, passion, and dedication. Every staff member has passed a background check and all are CPR & First Aid certified.
Where are classes held?
Classes are held at The Hub @ East Platte, 12220 NW Skyview Ave, Kansas City, MO 64164. This historic school building was once home to East Platte Elementary.
We rotate between a classroom, kitchen and gymnasium setting to our outdoor classroom which is just under a 1/2 mile from our school building.

Students should bring a packed lunch that they can open and eat independently.
We ask that you please:
Avoid candy, soda, and high-sugar snacks
Skip foods needing more than 2 minutes to heat

Blairwell Prep does not provide daily snacks, though classes or celebrations may occasionally include treats.
Campfire s’mores are also a common treat, especially when temperatures are below 20 degrees!

Applications are accepted until spaces are filled.
Enrollment is for the full school year (September–May).
What ages may attend?
We currently serve ages 3-17. Shout out to one-room school houses! PreK and Teen Groups have recently been developed due to high demand. However, all children must be potty-trained before they are allowed to attend.
What do students do in bad weather?
There’s no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothes. We embrace outdoor learning year-round! We have heated & cooled indoor spaces available when outdoor learning isn’t suitable. However, students have spent time at our outdoor classoom in both single and triple digits without complaint!
What if my child has food allergies or medical needs?
Please inform us of allergies or conditions before your child begins. We will partner with you to make sure your student is safe and supported.
What about students with special needs?
We welcome diverse students. While our instructors are not trained to meet all special education needs, we encourage families to discuss their child’s needs with a director to determine if Blairwell Prep is a good fit for all.
